Tungsten-copper (WCu)

Tungsten-copper (WCu) is a composite material with a homogeneous microstructure. This material is manufactured using powder metallurgy. The starting elements for production are the purest metal powders, which are pressed directly into porous pressed parts with an exact green density. The porous compacts are then sintered and infiltrated with liquid copper. WCu combines the typical properties of the individual elements tungsten and copper. These are the high hardness, high modulus of elasticity and high resistance to wear and erosion of tungsten with the good electrical and thermal conductivity of copper.
